Before the New Years Resolutions !

It’s been a tough year in and outside of the box. Every second, I can truly say has been worth it. So before the “New Years Resolutions” here is a little thought from the team at CrossFit Ex Animo.

We are winding down a year of learnings, growth, hello’s and goodbyes and the promise of new opportunity for 2016. It is with the crazy wind down that we come up with crazy ideas, the fresh slate, the open canvas to recreate yourself in 2016 from the things you couldn’t do in 2015. Resolution

Who knows why we do this, that strange belief that there is a set calendar or time frame in which to create ourselves anew exists it total poppycock.

Most of the goals we set are fitness and lifestyle aligned, but I am here to tell you that 2016 is not the time to do it, the time to do it is today, now at this moment. Check your watch, those seconds are done but each one had something to do with the person you are going to be in the next second.

So without further adieu here is the CrossFit Ex Animo 2016 5 step guide to non-resolution setting and living:

Step 1:

The calendar does not exist, you are where you are today because of the choices you made yesterday. Stop worrying about the clock and being negative about who you are and where you are now because in the very next second you can make a decision that will change that. It’s ok to be yourself. You are pretty cool, think about how many years it’s taken you to become you. That’s a big deal to us and we want you just the way you are.

Step 2:

Take action on the bucket list you are putting together, and nothing is too small or big for the bucket list. You will be surprised how quickly time flies. Bucket lists aren’t about before you die, they are about when you live. Write it down, make a plan and get your shizness together.

Step 3:

Find inspiration. It is all around you. I am inspired daily by the people in the box. It’s the new coach who takes his first steps to give knowledge and help someone be better at the smallest thing, to the client who is hurting every rep of a workout out of reach but will sweat and hurt more than most, but show up the next day with a smile on their face despite how challenging the task ahead is. Inspiration is the muse who never leaves and gets us up in the morning.

Step 4:

Find balance, life without balance is the gangplank on the pirate ship. It’s one-directional and whilst the view might be nice the downfall is inevitable. Train hard, work hard, rest hard, love hard and adapt hard. Its the formula for balance, anything plus hard = balance.

Step 5:

Laugh at yourself. Laugh with friends at yourself. Step out of the picture you have of yourself in the mirror and have a giggle at the person you take so seriously. Life is treacherous, no one gets out alive so you might as well enjoy it whilst you are in it.

As we move into the festive season we wish you and your family a blessed holiday season and safe travels. Thank you for being a part of the 2015 Ex Animo Journey.

Much love and fondness from Crossfit Ex Animo, Bron, Steve, Bruce, Kyle, Justin and Andrew. SantaFit
