Ex Animo Events - Don't Miss Out!
Well hello there Xanimals!!! We’re feeling Springy and with the return of our amazing Jo’burg “Summer” weather, we couldn’t help but arrange some awesome events … we just love spending time with you guys!
We also just want to check in and make sure you’re all working hard on those summer bodies because NOW is the time to sculpt those sixpacks and start looking “dak for Vac” J
Firstly, let’s recap a few cool things that happened at the box over the past few weeks.
We hosted the annual Gorilla Store Skipathon at the box! What a success as usual! We want to thank you all so sincerely for your support and we’re confident that this event is going to become HUGE in the future. Remember proceeds go to a good cause!
Then we had the BlendidSA nutrition talk. That was very well supported and all our members that were there absolutely loved the “Klap Gyms” and “Green Mamba’s” that were served as tasters. For those of you that missed out – never mind – you can order online here https://www.blendid.co.za/.
Before we talk about all our upcoming events – we want to make some announcements. As we mentioned in our last newsletter, our new T-shirts have arrived!!! YAY!! See, we make promises and we deliver! Get yours for only R250.
Then, due to demand, we have added an extra class to the CrossFit schedule. We now have a Tuesday morning class at 8am. It’s available to all (IE this isn’t a ladies only class).

Disco WOD (Friday Night Fever) – Friday 6 October 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Feel like staying alive? This is going to be an absolute laugh! We want you to all come in your best disco outfits and we’ll kit out the box to look like a scene from Saturday Night Fever. We will have some beers and ciders for a great chill sesh afterwards. Shagadelic Baby!
Gymnastics Workshop for Ladies – Sunday 8 October 8:00am —10:30am
For all those ladies who need to fine tune those movements where you’re hanging from a bar or upside down, we’ve planned a great workshop to correct techniques and spend some time focussing on GYMNASTICS. Join Bron and Taz who will work with you personally on pull-ups, toes-to-bar, handstands and any other gymnastics movements you need help with. Obviously we’ll head down to Possums for a delicious Champagne breakfast afterwards. We said ladies only right? Right!! J
Boets, Beers & Benchpresses – Friday 20 October 6:00pm – 7:00pm
One for the boys now… Guys, join Justin for a lekka boet session – bicep curls, bench-press , tyre flips and all things ‘boet’ hey. Wear your vests, bring your tjoms, come WOD with us and then stay for a beer with us afterwards.
Olympic Weightlifting Saturday 04 November 9:00am -10:30am with our resident lifting specialist Greg Shushu and guest coach Portia Vries. Portia is the national record holder in the 48kg and 53kg weight classes. The workshop will include some technical instruction, theory and an opportunity to perfect your lifting technique with Greg and Portia assisting. This is a great opportunity to improve your technical skills and by default, your CrossFit.
These events are open to all levels, beginner to more experienced, and are an opportunity to get to know each other better. They only cost you one of your allocated sessions, no additional cost. Events will be on our Calendar so PLEASE book so we know what sort of numbers to expect. Bookings will open a week in advance. Have a good one guys and gals!
