Hello 2018

Hello 2018

Greetings Xanimals!!! Wow! 2018 is here already! How quickly did that happen? Most of us are back from our travels and we saw on our ex animo social channels that you guys were all over the show! From Mossel Bay to Madagascar, from Bali to Ballito. We trust it’s been a great Festive Season for all of you and wherever you were, we are glad to welcome you back! Now we know that the season is also a time when lots of eating takes place and quite frankly, we get fat! Well, just know, we’re here for you. Coach Bruce will tell you that it’s not the end of the world. Now, whilst you are fat from festively eating, is when you must do your strict pull-ups. It’ll make you strong

So we trust that some of you have made New Year’s resolutions and we hope that getting fit and being the best version of yourself is right there at the top of your list. Remember, when setting goals for yourself, it’s not advisable to approach it with a go big or go home attitude. This means that we end up putting too much pressure on ourselves. It just makes it easier if you set small, realistic and attainable goals and chances of success and goal realisation are higher. Having said that – if you have any friends, old or new, who have put fitness goals at the top of their New Year’s resolutions lists, send them to this link http://cfxa.co.za/sign-up/?membership=beginner-class and we will throw them into one of beginners’ classes.

Here are some announcements we wanted to make sure you are all aware of.

  • Our Tuesday 8am class has been cancelled due to lack of demand.
  • Sadly, we have to say another goodbye, this time to Greg Shushu – our favourite lifting coach. Greg leaves us at the end of January to pursue other opportunities in the fitness field. The lifting classes will remain in the same slots and will be coached by our current team of coaches. These classes are open to anyone who wants to improve their strength and Olympic lifting.
  • Our Boets and Beers session was moved out last year and will be taking place on 09 February! That will be fun, and remember – this one is just for the boys.
  • One last thing – we know that it’s been a while since we have seen all of you and holidays mean that we end up changing our routine and getting out of certain habits. We want to remind you get back into the habit of booking for class. Please also cancel bookings for classes you can’t attend so you don’t take up a spot someone else could have used.

Before we go, we wanted to notify you about some upcoming CrossFit competitions. There is a cool little team competition in Clarens called the Clarens Summer Series taking place on 16 and 17 Feb. There are scaled and elite divisions so anyone can enter. Chat to us if you are keen. Format is teams of 4 (2 male, 2 female).

And the most exciting news – the CrossFit Open is coming soon! That’s right folks, the biggest CrossFit competition in the world is around the corner again… It’s due to kick off on 22 Feb and we can’t wait. Entries are already open and it costs USD10. Workouts all happen at the box, one per week for five weeks. If you’re not sure if the Open is for sure or you just want to hear more about it then come to our Open Q&A session on 27 January from 8-8:15am (the 8am class will start 15 mins late).

That’s all folks, short and sweet from our side. We wanted to just say that we are ready to take on 2018 with you! We look forward to a fantastic year filled with lots of fun events and even more PB’s .

Cheers

The CFXA team
